VBS-Blast Off

I think this holiday is just about to wear me out, but I feel blessed to be healthy enough to take in all the festivities and to have so many wonderful friends and family to celebrate with. I have been cooking up a storm and still have lots more to do. Tonight we will be attending a wedding, which should be lots of fun, it is a girl that I have grown up with all my life. We are praying the rain and storms hold off until after the wedding but stop before tomorrows family reunion- I don't think that is too much to ask for!

We had VBS a few weeks ago. This year our church tried something different by just doing a one day VBS extravaganza! I must admit I was sad when I first heard this because I have so many wonderful memories  of the weeklong VBS. However it was a great day and in the end it was nice to have it one day and then we were done. The day started at 9:30 and was  full force until 4:30. We had snacks, crafts, lessons and fun all day. The kids had a great time with the inflatables that they got for the day. Unfortunately it rained off and on all day, but with all the rain we have had this year, I think everyone has just gotten used to doing things in the rain. I will spare you pictures of how lovely I was looking by the end of the day with my frizzy, wavy hair and not makeup!

The theme was blast off which meant a space theme. I had the kindergarten group which was so much fun and they were so well behaved.  The kids decorated backpacks and made glow in the dark cross necklaces. For snacks they had pudding in a bag and frozen chocolate dipped bananas.  We ended the day with a carnival and Madison came to join the fun! My the end of the day I was exhausted but I know the kids had so much fun.

Funny story- The following day was Father's Day. We were at church with Logan and when I sat down he kept telling me they were going to sing the Blast Off song. All through the service he kept whispering this to me. You see it has always been a traditon that the Sunday after bible school, the kids get up and sing some of the songs they have learned during the week. Well it never happened this year, so Logan gave us his performance a little later in the day.

Logan really enjoyed the pizza for lunch

My sweet group listening to a lesson

Posing with the little girls in my class. I had 2 boys and 4 girls, such a contrast
from my second grade class this past year.

Logan loved the bouncy house

Logan thought the hula hoops were more fun than the game!

Madison and Taylor playing a game. I laugh
looking at this picture because I used to
babysit Taylor when she was Madison's age.
TIME FLIES!

What a special day with lots of happy memories for so many little precious ones. We're home and digging out from beach sand and dirty laundry. Have a lovely 4th of July weekend, Courtney!

Hugs!
