A Day Out With Thomas

It all began one early morning in June, as I was sitting drinking my morning coffee and checking FB. A site on their had done a review on a local railway, so I decided to check it out. Well I found out there was a Thomas ride, but it was in September. So I started thinking, that yes I could make it work but that is always such a busy time with the beginning of the school year for me and this year Logan. So I began to research if there were any other of these day outs around. Well the closest I came up with was about 2 1/2 hours away in Indiana. Well with my trusty GPS, I decided I would make it happen and we would take a day roadtrip. So I bought the tickets and decided to make it a surprise that would not be revealed until we got there. I cannot tell you how many times during those 10 days that I wanted to tell him, I am not good at keeping secrets.

So the morning of the train ride arrived. Logan kept trying to guess what it was, he thought it was a day of swimming at the waterpark. We got dressed, ate breakfast and hit the road by 10. Logan slept most of the way there, which was a good thing since I wanted him to be refreshed. We pulled into the town and made our way to the station. We paid for our parking and got out of the car and then we heard that whistle and I revealed what the surprise was. I am not going to lie, I had tears in my eyes because the sight of that little engine was magical especially through the eyes of a 5 year old little boy. Thomas has been a part of our lives for many years.

We made our way across the street to get our paperwork and start exploring the grounds. I was amazed at how much there was to do. They had mini train rides, bounce houses, stories, movies and a whole Thomas playland.  We grabbed some lunch and started playing. We had about 2 hours till our ride time.  Logan was in heaven and it made me so happy to see him having such a fun time. It came time to board the train and get ready for the ride. We had so much fun riding on Thomas and taking it all in. After the ride we explored some more and of course hit the gift shop where we scored a t-shirt and I got some scrapbooking supplies to scrapbook this magical day. I also got a CD of songs from the train ride for Logan's birthday. All too soon it was time to make our way home. We stopped at Friendly's for dinner and then made our way home. We were both tired from our busy day but it was totally worth. Don't worry Madison has a special surprise day coming up soon that involves some princesses.
