I've Been Tagged

I have been tagged by monkeys-on-the-bed.blogspot.com. This is the first time I have been tagged so here it goes! My job is to list 6 (un)important things that make me happy... 1. Summer vacation- I love the laid back schedule of summer and the chance to get caught up from the school year. 2. Scrapbooking- I love being able to sit down and create a scrapbook page. I find scrapbooking very relaxing, especially during the school year. 3. Shopping- I love to shop. Summer is a great time to check out garage sales, I love the thrill of a great find. Living near an awesome thrift store and outlet mall, helps fuel this addiction. My favorite thing to shop for is clothes and toys for Logan! 4. Spending Time With Family- I love spending time with Logan, he has changed so many things in my life! 5. My computer- I have become totally addicted to Facebook, Blogging and online shopping! 6. Rolling up the windows in my car and belting out the songs on the radio. Notice I said roll up the window, we don't need to subject others to me singing 80's songs with the radio. So there it is... facts you probably never cared to know about me. I am tagging the following people 1.http://lovejoyscrap.blogspot.com 2.thejerkinsfamily.blogspot.com 3.fullers1006.blogspot.com 4.http://forscrappingoutloud.blogspot.com/ 5.http://laurennicolegifts.blogspot.com 6.http://miraclesmommadesigns.blogspot.com/ If I have tagged you and you don't want to participate, I totally understand!

Logan's First VBS

Playing musical instruments Logan and his classmate

Logan is attending our churches bible school this week. He is in the nursery class with one other child (we go to a small church). He is having a great time! He loves watching all the older kids. He is catching on the the chorus of the theme song, which is go, go, go and sings it with lots of enthusiasm. I love that he is so comfortable with our church. Logan has one of the best teachers, his aunt Courtney!!

Better Late Than Never

Checking to see what is on dad's plate! Yummy, a chicken leg! It is two days after Father's Day and I am just now posting about Father's Day. Well, better late than never. I had a busy weekend and my week is just as busy. I can't wait to get back to my nice relaxing summer schedule! I had a great Father's Day weekend. Saturday night, Logan and I spend the night at my grandparent's house. We had a great night, which included Logan sleeping all night (this is not typical for him)! We got up Saturday and met my brother (Logan's dad) and my parent's at church. Our church had a Father's Day dinner after services, so we all enjoyed lots of food. Logan loved the chicken legs. After church we went back to my grandparent's house. Logan took his ride with my grandpa on the four-wheeler and checked on all the things in the barn (he can't leave their house without doing this). After everyone left, I relaxed with my grandparent's and spent the night at their house again (this time without Logan). Monday started our churches vacation bible school. I will post on this later this week, I can't believe tomorrow is Wednesday!

Adventures In Babysitting

So on Thursday, I had Logan all to myself. Usually we are at my parents or grandparents houses, so I was excited to have him all to myself at my apartment. We had a lot of fun and Logan was an angel. Of course I photographed the day so I thought I would do a little run down in pictures of how our day went.
After I picked Logan up we headed to the school, where I teach, to play on the playground. Unfortunately not long after we arrived it began raining, so we had to leave.
So we went through the McDonald's Drive Thru (I am not ready to tackle inside with a toddler yet) and got some lunch. I have a vase with flowers and candles on my table that Logan was fascinated with. Gotta class it up a little bit when you are eating fast food on a paper plate!
After lunch, this was the scene. I made a pillow boundary on top of my bed and 2 1/2 hours of nap time ensued.
After nap time, we headed back out to the playground for about an hour and a half. This boy loves the outdoors! After the playground we headed home for ham and green bean casserole.
We finished the day with a bath (Logan loves to splash in the tub). So his mom got a clean and tired kid and Aunt Courtney got to go home to a nice quiet house. I love being an Aunt!
Have a great weekend. I am spending mine with my family. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!

Flashback Friday- The Cookie Monster Wagon

I don't have a before picture, because it is an old picture of me with this wagon and I haven't tackled that project yet (the project being scanning all my childhood photos). However the story behind this wagon is that I received it for my second birthday and now Logan is playing with the Cookie Monster wagon. It makes me so happy to see him playing with it now.
I hope everyone has had a great week. Enjoy the weekend!
I hope to post tomorrow about Thursday, when Logan made a visit to Aunt Courtney's house!

Busy Weekend

Well it is Monday morning and I am trying to recover from the weekend. I had so much fun, but by the time Sunday night came I was pooped!
Friday night started with my friend Kristy's graduation from the community college in my hometown. I got to spend the evening with my friend Laura, who was in from Georgia. She only comes in about once a year, so it is always fun to catch up. After the graduation, we had dinner at the local pizza place with Kristy's family. After the family dinner, we ditched the children and headed to the bowling alley. We closed the bowling alley and I headed home, making it a late night.
Me, Kristy, Laura, and Susanna (We had a great time catching up)
Saturday morning, I was up early to head back down to my grandparents, where I was going to stay for the rest of the weekend. I got to visit with my aunt Louise for a little while. My parent's picked me up about 5 and we headed to the wedding. I have grown up with Mark. Our mom's went through elementary school and high school and have remained friends. As kids we always got to see them at least twice a year so they are like family. It was a beautiful wedding. Lindsey is an only child, so her parent's spared no expense for the wedding. We had an amazing meal and a fun time. Luckily my parents did not catch any pics of me doing the locomotion or the YMCA, although I am sure there are pictures out there somewhere!
Me with my Mom and Dad at our table
The happy couple cutting their cake!
Sunday started out with church and then I picked Logan up and we headed to the local safety day. He was in love with all the fire trucks and police cars. They also he a medical helicopter and other cool exhibits. As soon as he got to my grandparent's house, my grandpa was coming down the road on his tractor, this means one thing to Logan-ride on the tractor. We ended up at the barn, where he had to try out all the equipment. After this Logan was ready for lunch and a nap, so was Aunt Courtney! We finished off the evening at my parent's, they are headed off on vacation today. That leaves Aunt Court as the official babysitter for Logan this week, lots of fun.
My dad with Logan sitting in the fire truck.
Logan sporting his new fireman's hat!
Trying out Pap's farm equipment (he would be happy playing on these all day)!
Today I am cleaning and organizing my scraproom/office, so I can get back to scrapbooking.
Happy Monday!

Show Us Where You Live Home Tour-Bathrooms

So I have decided to participate in the Show Us Where You Live Friday over at Kelly's Korner (click on the link to the right to visit there). This week it is bathrooms. Keep in mind, I live in an apartment, so my options are limited. Enjoy the tour and then head over to Kelly's to visit the rest! This is my vanity as you walk in. I collect Longaberger baskets, so I use them to contain a lot of stuff in my bathroom.
This is my toilet area. I picked up the heart of roses wreath cheap after Valentine's Day.
The shower curtain was a gift from a friend, and served as the inspiration for the rest of the bathroom.
I found these towels about a year after I moved in. They match the shower curtain perfectly.
I hope you have enjoyed my tour. Hop over to Kelly's and check out the rest.
Happy Friday!

Logan's First Haircut

Logan and Daddy sitting for his haircut (this one he was sitting, the rest he was
wiggling) His reward for getting his haircut, getting to play with the curlers
Checking out his new do!
Logan had his first haircut last Thursday. My aunt (Logan's great-aunt) cut his hair. She did my first haircut and my brothers first haircut too. Her name is Louise, but Logan calls her "we". She said overall he did a good job, considering it was his first time. After his haircut, he got to eat one of Louise's birthday brownies!

Fun at the Zoo

Logan is checking out the ducks (one of his favorite animals) He loved the petting zoo They had lots of cool educations exhibits, this one was on elephants, Logan is feeling the elephants tail. My parents and I with Logan getting ready to go into the zoo. We had the perfect zoo day yesterday. The weather was perfect, sunny and mid 70's. It has been years since I have been to the zoo, but it was like seeing it for the first time with Logan. He loved all the animals and was a happy camper all day long(trust me I saw many kids who were not happy). I am amazed at how smart he is and how much he remembers. We have spent today recovering (pushing a stroller up and down a hilly zoo can wear on the leg muscles) but it was totally worth it and I would do it again tomorrow. My mom even commented that she thought Logan's legs were tired because he was wanting her to rub them today at nap time, and he spent most of the day in the stroller! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Flashback Friday

I am taking Logan to the zoo today. This is Logan's second trip to the zoo, first trip with me. I am posting a picture from last years zoo trip. He is about 8 months old.

A Little Background

I thought I would take a little bit of time today to talk about the background of my relationship with Logan. I believe I have a different type of relationship than most aunt's have with their nephews and there is a little story to that. So here it goes. Logan's parents (my brother) are not married and Logan did not come into this world into an ideal situation. I struggle with this because I don't want out family to be "that family". Obviously we would have loved for it to have been the ideal situation but it is not, so we have had to adapt. For the first 6 months of his life, I saw Logan a total of 4 times, and all of those were under the supervision of his mother. This was hard, because I wanted to be the loving aunt, who spoiled her nephew, but his mother would not let my family see him. At around 6 months things changed and slowly we were allowed to have him during the day and eventually he was allowed to spend the night at my parents house. Since then we have been building up our relationship and I usually get to spend Sunday's with Logan ( my parents babysit now while his parents work). That is why I treasure every moment I get to spend with him, because I know how quickly it can be taken away. I don't have children of my own, so I love spending time with Logan and spoiling him like crazy! Now to part two of the story. Baby #2 is on the way in September, same parents, they are getting along better now. However, I am hesitant because of the situation with Logan's first year, I am not sure how the mother will react and how much time my family will get to spend with her. I have been checking out all these online stores for bows and tutus but can't bring myself to buy any yet because things could change in a moments notice. So I struggle because I can't wait to have a little niece to spoil as much as I do Logan, but we are always on pins and needles, never knowing when the situation will change. I hope I haven't rambled too much but that is a little background on the situation. I strive to give Logan as many experiences as possible, because I only want the best for him. Being a teacher has made me want to give him the best of everything because I see so many children, who lack so many things. Thanks for reading this. Here is a little video from this past Sunday.

Wonderful Weekend

I had a wonderful first weekend out of school. I am starting to adjust to a new schedule which I like much better (later nights, later mornings). Saturday I spent just lounging around the house in the morning and then I attended 2 graduation parties in the evening. The parties were for 2 boys that I used to babysit, I had one of those, can I really be this old already moments. It just reminded me how fast time goes by.
Sunday I got to spend with Logan. We almost made it through the entire church service without a major fit. We spent some time outside, then Logan took a great nap. I now understand why moms love nap time so much, it is a wonderful break, especially with a busy toddler.
We spent Sunday evening with my friend Kristy, she was hosting her son Noah's third birthday party. They had a clown and a new swing set to play. Logan loved playing with Noah's new bull dozer and other digging toys. Needless to say he hit the bathtub when we got to my parent's house.
This week I am trying to get caught up on all the things that have gotten pushed aside during the school year. Today's task was tackling the bathroom. Mission accomplished!!
Riding his tractor before nap time.
Mowing grass at the birthday party Blowing bubbles with the clowns husband. He wasn't scared of the clown, just not interested in her.
Digging with Noah's new bull dozer.
