Flashback Friday-Lilacs

Spring is one of my favorite seasons because of all the flowers in bloom (my allergies do not appreciate them).  I love it when the lilacs bloom and always have to pick a bunch to bring in house. Lucky for me, I have had a helper the past two years. Logan loves to collect the flowers as we cut them.  I am amazed looking at the pictures at how much Logan continues to grow and change.

I have a been busy with everything that the end of the school year brings, so I may be in and out of blogland for the next few weeks. I am really looking to summer vacation and spending more time with Logan.

We have a fun outing planned on Saturday to the butterfly show. Hopefully the weather will hold out so I can get some good outdoor shots at the park we are going to. This is the first time we have been to the show, but it sounds like lots of fun. I hope everyone enjoys the weekend and all the wonderful things that spring has to offer.

A Fish Tale

Logan had his first fishing experience this spring. Let's just say he likes the thrill of the catch, but not the wait to get there.  My grandparents have a large stocked pond, so he went fishing with his daddy and grandpa on his mom's side. Logan spent the evening riding his lawn mower and fishing. I am so sure that one day he will enjoy this sport, but for now he will stick to eating his fish instead of catching it!

Happy 7th Month Birthday Madison

It is so hard to believe we are on the second half of Madison's first year. I can't believe in just 5 short months we will be celebrating her first birthday.

This past month Madison's personality continues to shine through.  She seems to recognize me when I come into a room and will plaster a big smile across her face (such a change from the first few months). She now even feels comfortable enough to throw up all over Aunt Court's leg or maybe she was just marking her territory from her brother! Speaking of Logan, Madison and I have to steal time away without him otherwise he becomes VERY jealous.  She is getting ready to cute her first tooth anyday now and enjoyed using my chunky bead necklace as a teething ring on Sunday! Madison also likes to use her loud (teacher) voice to overcome all the talking in the room.  Her latest milestone was sitting up on her own this past week!! I can't wait to see what month 7 has in store for Miss Madison.

Where's My Kitty Cat?

Logan has found a cat at my grandma's farm that will tolerate him. This cat takes on a lot!  Logan thinks this cat is the best thing in the world. When you ask him what its name is, he replies "my kitty". They have been having lots of fun together this spring (well Logan has, I can't speak for the cat).

Things around here have been pretty quiet, which has been a wonderful change. I am busy at school finishing up all the end of the year stuff. At home I have been trying to spring clean and reorganize which is what is on my agenda today. Enjoy the pictures and have a great weekend!

Black and White Wednesday With A Pop Of Color

I was playing around with my Easter pictures and doing some different editing. I decided to try a black and white with a touch of color. I found this picture of Madison the day before Easter with her Easter flower in. I think it turned out really cute.  I look at this picture and can't believe how much she has grown, I still see her as that baby in the hospital!

Check out other black and white pictures here. Happy Wednesday!

Easter Fun

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday together as a family. This was our first major holiday without my grandpa and I would be lying if I said we didn't miss him. There were many times during the day that tears came to my eyes because he wasn't there to share in a moment. Luckily I had two little ones to keep my mind busy.

We started out the day by going to church then after services we went out for dinner.  It has always been tradition to go out for Easter dinner, that way no one has to do the dishes! Logan's other grandparents and uncle joined us for church and dinner. After dinner we headed back to my grandma's for an Easter egg hunt and fun outside. We had the nicest weather for Easter this year. Logan enjoyed finding his eggs with his uncle B and Aunt Court happened to have some presents too! Later we were joined by my Aunt Louise and Logan had to show off all his new toys.  Overall Easter was a success and a fun time spent with family.

On The Hunt

On Saturday, our chuch had their annual Easter egg hunt. Logan went last year, but was not really into finding the eggs. This year he has been all about finding the eggs, in fact we have been hiding them around the house because he likes finding them so much.  So he was excited about hunting eggs with Kaylei and Emma (his friends from church).

So I was already at the house where the egg hunt was being held and my brother was bringing the kids. I head out to get Logan out of the van and am instead handed Madison. Why? Logan had thrown up all over the van! So Cory cleaned Logan up while the other kids were hunting eggs. Logan was not at all happy at this point. The other kids were so sweet and rehid eggs for Logan to find. They funny part was the would go behind him and hid the eggs and he would turn around and wonder why there was an egg where he had just stepped. Too funny. He got a few eggs and he was happy.  After the hunt he left with my mom and I took Madison with me. She has finally realized that Aunt Court isn't so bad and no longer cries when she is with me!

We took salads and snacks to the egg hunt to go along with the hot dogs. I took this Grape Salad and it was the star of the buffet table. The best part about it is that it is super easy, so I thought I would share.
Enjoy!

Best Grape Salad
2lbs. red grapes
2lbs. green grapes
8 ounces of sour cream
8 ounces of cream cheese, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 Butterfinger bars

Wash and stem grapes, set aside. Mix sour cream, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla by hand until blended. Stir grapes into the mixture and pour into a large serving bowl. Let sit overnight. Before serving crush the Buttefinger bars and sprinkle over the top.

I No Like Eggs

I have lots to share about our weekend, but that will have to wait until I go through all the pictures (261 to be exact).  Last weekend, Logan and I colored Easter eggs. This was the first year we did this and he had a blast.  A few weeks earlier we were at the store and Logan got to pick out his dye pack. He chose the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, which is one of his favorite new shows. He kept asking when we were going to "make those egg". Finally the time came and it was the perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Logan helped to mix the colors then he started throwing the eggs in the cups. This led to a lesson on how to gently put the eggs into the dye. Overall he did a wonderful job. He really enjoyed putting the stickers on the eggs. He kept telling me that he was going to eat the egg and would try to take a bite shell and all. My dad finally showed him how you peel and eat an egg. Logan's response "I no like those eggs". Oh well at least we had fun coloring them and my dad enjoyed eating them!

What Does The Easter Bunny Eat For Lunch

If you ask Logan, he will tell you hot dogs, chips, carrots and Jello. Last Saturday we had lunch with the Easter Bunny.  We started out the morning by making placemats, then headed to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. Logan and Madison both loved the Easter Bunny, so we got great pictures. I bought both of them matching shirts from here.  After the pictures Logan decided he wanted to make the craft, which was an Easter Bunny frame.  After all that crafting, we headed over to the buffet for lunch. Logan dined on hot dogs, carrots, and chips, with Jello for dessert.  After everyone was finished eating, the kids got to go outside for an Easter Egg hunt. Logan was really into collecting eggs this year. He also found out that they had stuff inside. He doesn't eat much candy, but was thrilled to open each egg and find a wonderful surprise. Madison went to the lunch as well and enjoyed hanging out with my grandma.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Enjoy all the blessings of Easter!
