Rollin' Into A New Year

We continued the tradition we started last year by going skating and doing an early balloon drop. Logan also enjoyed meeting up with a little girl from his class. This is amazing since his school is about an hour away from my town. Logan loves having a few hours to skate and then he gets to count down the new year. We were home by 4 o'clock (party animals, I know)!  We made homemade pizza that evening, and I also made little smokies and some dip so we continued the party at home. We both tried to stay up, but both fell asleep by 11!  It was really the perfect way to spend the new year.

In each of the balloons they drop, there is a prize. Logan won a piece of pizza from the snack bar. Good thing he likes pizza since we had already planned to make some that night.

The Day After

Late in the evening on Christmas Day, we decided to make a trip to the Creat*on Museum the following day. My cousin's have a membership, so we decided to take advantage of their free tickets. Logan wanted to go to see all the dinosaurs.  So we made plans to get up the next morning early and head out from my grandma's house. It was a perfect day to go since crowds were low and the weather was perfect. We spend the day exploring the museum and it was warm enough to enjoy the petting zoo and a camel ride.  We parted ways at the museum and Logan and I headed back to my grandma's and my aunt and cousin's headed home.

Christmas Day

I didn't realize it had been so long since I had posted, I guess that what happens when you are wrapped up in report cards and end of the semester work.  It is really hard to believe we are already in the second semester of the year, time is flying by. I will be working today, as this is one of our snow make-up days. I won't lie, I am a little sad that we don't get the day off, but I am glad that we are getting this make-up day out of the way. I know I will be thankful later if we get an extra day in the spring or at the end of the year when spring fever has set in.

I am finally getting around to posting about Christmas. We had a fun Christmas Day. My day always starts out slow, as I don't do anything that morning, we all meet at my grandma's house in the afternoon. I packed up food and gifts and headed down there. We dined on ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, green beans, and salad for lunch. After the dishes are all done (this was always torture as a child) we went in to exchange gifts. The kids were excited with all their gifts from family. While they were playing with their new toys, the rest of us opened up and enjoyed our gifts.  Later in the evening we always enjoy desserts and snacks.  We were all tired and ready for bed by the time the day was over.

Christmas Eve 2013

Well we finally made it back to school yesterday after 2 additional days off after Christmas break.  We are slowly getting back into a routine!

We always do the same thing Christmas Eve. We meet with all of my grandma's side of the family, that equals about 50 aunts, uncles and cousins. We always enjoy meat trays and lots of snack foods.  We spend time chatting and the kids playing. It is a really noisy but fun time. After that everyone goes home and waits for Santa.

Church Christmas Program

Well we have extended our break by another day thanks to some extreme cold weather. For those of you who live in the extreme north and deal with this all winter bless your heart because I am freezing. I went out to start  my car this morning and it was bitter. I am so glad my little ones don't have to stand out in this and wait for the bus.

Thank you for all the birthday and get well wishes. I am feeling better, now I am just left with a crazy stiff neck. So I am spending lots of time with the heating pad, which is the perfect activity for this cold day!

Our church had it's Christmas program the weekend before Christmas. Lots of people come together to share their talents for this program. Logan and Madison both participated in the manger scene and Logan performed a solo in both the morning and evening service. He is really into singing right now.

Sorry this flipped and is sideways-not sure how to fix that

Horse Day and Madison's First Movie Experience

I am celebrating my birthday today by hanging low and feeling cruddy. Not exactly how I would like to spend my birthday but it is what it is this year. I had dinner with my family the other day, so today will just be low key. I can't seem to shake this crazy cold but I hope it leaves soon because it has stuck around for a week and that is more than enough.  Enough of the pity party and on to the fun stuff.

The weekend before Christmas, I found an activity in town that I knew Madison would love. That girl is all about horses. The local feed mill (you know you live in a small town, when fun activities happen at the feed mill) hosted a horse day. They had snacks and the kids got to paint their own horse and play with the horse character that was dressed up. They also gave away a door prize and Madison won that.  We had so much fun. I had another surprise for her. After we left there, we headed to the local theater to see Frozen. This was Madison's first theater experience and I thought this would be the perfect movie. We loved the movie.  It was a fun girls day out!
