Well I survived my first week of school. Every year, I always forget how stressful and exhausting the first week of school is. We have meeting, meet the teacher and of course the kids come. I am excited that today we are starting our normal routine. The kids and I need routine. This week is a four day week for students and next week is a four day week for me!!! I will share pictures soon of our classroom, I almost forgot to take them.
Logan had his special day out with Thomas at the beginning of the summer and I decided that I needed to find a special event for Madison. After looking around, I found that the riverboat down in Cincy was starting a princess cruise this summer. I bought the tickets, borrowed the perfect princess costume and we were ready to go.
It was the perfect event full of girly goodness. I got Madison dressed that morning and we headed down to the river. We boarded the boat and the put all the little princesses in the bottom ballroom. The had it decorated and a DJ on board to entertain us. The introduced all the Disney princesses and then taught the little girls to smile, wave and curtsy like a princess. Then we paraded up to the top of the boat and met the captain and got their magic wand. After going downstairs, they got their picture of the princesses and they could have them autographed. After the autograph session, it was one big dance party with all the princesses. it was adorable to watch. Madison had a great time and will still show you how to smile and wave like a princess. I love doing special girly things with her.
Sorry for the picture overload, there were just too many to pick from.

Turbo Power
Sadly for me summer break is over today. I am back to school. Today and tomorrow are teacher work days and the kids start Wednesday. I spent the past week and weekend trying to organize and get everything ready for the school. There is just so much to do and no matter how many times you do it, I still think it is overwhelming. We still have a few things to finish in the room but I will take pictures when it is done and post them.
One rainy Saturday afternoon in July, Logan and I decided to go to the local truck show and to see the movie Turbo. We arrived at the truck show and went inside to look at the trucks. Logan was a little disappointed that it was raining and we couldn't see the outside trucks, maybe next year. We walked around, climbed in some trucks and blew the horns a few times! After leaving there, we headed to the movie theater for Turbo. We don't do the movies often so of course we bought popcorn and soda and headed inside. I splurged for the 3D but Logan ended up with his glasses off most of the time, oh well, I enjoyed it. I really enjoyed this movie. It didn't get a whole lot of hype but I would recommend it. After the movie, we headed to Red Robin for dinner-YUM! We came home and relaxed for the rest of the evening.

Rollin Down The River
I am blessed to have so many wonderful co-workers. When I started with the district, it was split up into smaller elementary schools. I really bonded with my co-workers at the school I started in. They were wonderful mentors and some of my dearest friends. Over the years we have moved into a larger school and many have now retired but we still make it a point to keep in touch. We usually get together about once a month for dinner and during the summer, we plan an outing. This year we decided to go on a riverboat lunch cruise down on the Ohio River. We had a great BBQ lunch and then we headed up to the top deck to talk and enjoy the view. I love the time I get to spend with these ladies and they have all taught me so much over the years.

Indoor Playtime Fun
Well after I survived a hot night at the fair, I decided the next days activity was going to be a cool activity. I had seen an indoor playground that looked really neat but I had never been able to arrange to get the time to get there. Well that Tuesday was the perfect opportunity. It was the perfect activity. For five dollars, you get playtime in this huge warehouse that sells the backyard play equipment They had about 10 different swingsets and jungle gyms, 4 trampolines, scooters and other riding toys, a basketball court and sports area. Kids can run around to their hearts content and adults can grab a snack and enjoy a comfy bench seat and enjoy. After we left their we had dinner and enjoyed some froyo at Orange Leaf, which was a new experience. It was a much cooler day!!!

Fayette County Fair
This summer has been a little crazy weather wise. In June we had rain, July and August have been mostly cool temperatures as in not swimming. I am a little bummed about the swimming but it has made every other outdoor activity wonderful. Our fair is in the middle of July, so it is always hot, no make that super hot. Well based on the weather pattern, I thought we might escape that this year-NOT. We have had one super hot week (between 90 and 100) and that was the week of our fair. However it is has become a tradition to go and I am not one to break tradition, so we headed to the fair. I lasted about 2 and a half hours before calling it quits. It was so hot I was becoming physically sick and the kids were getting cranky. We managed to have some fun in those two hours. One the best parts of the fair is the food, but we didn't eat because it was just too hot. Anyway we survived and made another year of memories at the fair!

Madison had a flower ponytail holder that the alpacas loved.
Logan's favorite part is climbing on all the tractors
Madison's favorite part was riding the ponies.
